Abstract
This informational and analytical review elucidates the contemporary (clinical, psychophysiological, neurophysiological, psychological) approaches to diagnosing disorders of sexual preference in practical work across countries. The emphasis is placed on the experience of the United States, Canada, Great Britain and the Czech Republic. Assessment procedures, used by specialists in these countries, are compared to the organization of carrying out the differential diagnosis of sexual preference disorders in the Russian Federation. The article follows up on the International Consensus Meeting on assessment and treatment of people with problematic sexual interests and behaviors, which was held in 2017 in the Czech Republic within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the V. Serbsky Federal Medical Research Centre for Psychiatry and Narcology and a number of Canadian medical and research centers.
