Este artigo visa discutir, a partir de um olhar mais amplo sobre a filmografia de Pedro Almodóvar, de que maneira algumas mudanças estéticas e discursivas em sua obra ao longo dos anos são pertinentes para se pensar a retórica almodovariana no tocante às relações de gênero. Tais mudanças, compreendidas aqui como uma reterritorialização (geográfica e cultural), contribuem para a criação de um universo fílmico/narrativo particular, em que o desejo é o único princípio moral das condutas dos personagens. Nessa utopia almodovariana, que fica mais eloquente em Os amantes passageiros, o protagonismo da cidade como lócus da experiência dá lugar a um hiperespaço, em que a vivência do desejo, levada ao limite, conforma a fantasia de uma experiência plena do gênero e da sexualidade que acaba, paradoxalmente, negando a sua viabilidade.
