Introduccion: En Translation and Identity in the Americas, Edwin Gentzler aborda el tema de la relacion entre la traduccion y la formacion identitaria en el continente americano. A partir de cinco tematicas: el multiculturalismo en Estados Unidos; el movimiento feminista y la traduccion teatral en la provincia de Quebec (Canada); la corriente cultural conocida como “canibalismo”, liderada por intelectuales brasilenos en los anos 1950 y 1960; la narrativa latinoamericana y, finalmente, la “literatura de la frontera” o la literatura que surge en las comunidades fronterizas entre Mexico y Estados Unidos, asi como la literatura del Caribe.
