Abstract
Alors que, de nos jours, c’est à un critique et un théoricien du cinéma que l’on associe le plus souvent Siegfried Kracauer, nous traçons ici les contours de son oeuvre au regard de sa pertinence pour la sociologie de la culture. Nous concentrant sur ses écrits journalistiques, nous nous intéressons au rôle qu’y joue l’observation et à la place qu’y occupent l’espace et le « concret », à l’écriture sociologique, à la lecture du monde moderne, à la posture des intellectuels et au rapport non dogmatique de l’auteur au politique et à la théorie. Enfin, nous nous interrogeons sur l’apport que représentent ses écrits pour une sociologie qui se veut exigeante et empirique, tout en se présentant comme divertissante et sans formalisme.
