Abstract
Le 26 juillet 2017, l’ethnomusicologue Flavia Gervasi réalise un entretien avec le compositeur José Evangelista afin d’approfondir l’influence que les musiques du monde ont eue sur son travail de compositeur, mais aussi de professeur et de diffuseur. En effet, Evangelista est reconnu non seulement pour son engagement envers la musique classique contemporaine, mais aussi pour sa contribution importante quant à la diffusion de musiques non occidentales à Montréal, cela tant à titre d’enseignant que d’opérateur culturel. L’enjeu de l’entretien est ainsi de nourrir une curiosité intellectuelle intéressée par la question suivante : que fait un compositeur de formation occidentale avec des musiques non occidentales, qui constituent habituellement, pour un ethnomusicologue ou un anthropologue de la musique, un objet de réflexion épistémologique ?
