chansonniers d'amour, cette coexistence éclairant elle-même une réflexion sur l'héroïsme, ses modalités et son sens.L'inachèvement de La Franciade consacrerait de ce fait l'échec de l'œuvre épique, comme épopée, mais non peut-être de la méditation sur le héros épique, au sens où, comme le souligne Claudine Jomphe, « La Franciade semble naître d'une tension entre diverses philosophies de l'existence qui se meuvent autour du personnage de Francion et dont celui-ci prend graduellement conscience ».Le volume est complété par un ensemble d'annexes.Tant par la synthèse très claire et par l'investigation rythmée qu'elle met en œuvre que par l'analyse précise qu'elle propose de La Franciade, cette étude apporte au « Grand Œuvre » de Ronsard un éclairage contextuel et interne à la fois.Tout en confirmant en un sens tout un courant critique antérieur déjà soucieux d'envisager philosophiquement l'inachèvement de La Franciade, elle fait le choix radical de justifier cet inachèvement selon l'angle qui a le plus souvent conduit à y voir un échec, et souligne encore la dimension réflexive de la poétique ronsardienne.
