Abstract
La problématique résumée dans le titre de cet article trouve sa pleine démonstration dans les éléments socio-historiques que nous développons plus bas. Les cas de Pierre-Jean de Béranger et du peuple de France dans les bouleversements que vécut le pays entre 1789 et 1830 offrent un terrain d’observation suffisamment important pour tirer une synthèse claire des processus d’évolution du système, et de ses effets directs et indirects sur les habitus de la collectivité. Cet article abordera d’abord le fait chansonnier avant sa transformation et son instrumentalisation par le poète ; il développera ensuite les éléments constitutifs, quantitatifs et qualitatifs permettant de vérifier et d’accompagner notre hypothèse ; il synthétisera en enfin la pluralité des fonctions et des missions de la chanson politique, ouvrant des voies de réflexion sur les phénomènes musicaux contemporains.
