Abstract
Kvalitetsindikatorer er en av flere metoder som benyttes for å overvåke og dokumentere kvaliteten i helsetjenesten. De senere årene har interessen for slik monitorering økt betraktelig, ikke minst for hvordan evalueringen av sykehussektoren kan settes i system. Målet med dette prosjektet har vært å innhente og systematisere kunnskap fra andre lands forskning og erfaring knyttet til utvikling og bruk av kvalitetsindikatorer. Kartleggingen omfatter seks ulike nasjonale kvalitetsindikatorsystem utviklet av de internasjonale organisasjonene OECD og WHO og av helsemyndighetene i Canada, USA, Danmark og Sverige.
