Abstract

-- ABSTRACT: The practices of human resources management, mainly those connected to the reception and the integration, favor the retention in a company and the development of the skills of a new employee. They are necessary all the more in a context where the workforce is immigrant implying big challenges on the plans of the apprenticeship and the adaptation. This report consists in understanding the practices of reception and integration of the immigrant workers deployed in the context of farms from Quebec. So, we tried to release and to describe the resources at the disposal of the farmers to welcome the immigrant employees; the difficulties in which are confronted the owners of farms from Quebec with regard to the practices of reception and integration of the immigrant workers, as well as the success factors of the reception and the integration in a farm who employ immigrants. The preliminary proposal of this study is for the effect that the practices of reception and integration of their immigrant workers contribute at the good progress of this critical period. What about concretely these companies? Being family type, they often have a low expertise in human resources management and have to face the challenges about the cultural differences. Due to these circumstances it is difficult for the farmers to set up effective practices of reception and integration. The method of qualitative research is favored here for its flexible character and its adaptability emphasizing the social reality (Denzin and Lincoln, on 2000).
\nThis approach aims at the understanding of the reality lived by the subjects by trying to penetrate inside the observed universe (Becker, on 2002) by means of semi-managed conversations. The presented results come in four main stages or: the preparation for the reception, the reception, the integration and the acclimatization. As a matter of fact, the skills in human resources management of the farmers are weak and do not allow to assure the retention, the commitment of the employee, his membership and its mobilization. Furthermore, these companies have difficulty in undertaking actions to face the interculturalité (Aiman-Smith, 2004). -- Mot(s) clé(s) en anglais : reception, integration, immigrants, foreign worker, agriculture, retention, employment, workforce.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
