Le présent rapport propose une synthèse des connaissances sur la géologie des principaux bassins sédimentaires du sud du Québec, ainsi que de leur potentiel en hydrocarbures. Ce rapport a été établi sur la base d’une revue critique de la littérature disponible et a été réalisé dans le cadre du Chantier économie des deux évaluations environnementales stratégiques (ÉES) initiées par le gouvernement du Québec en mai 2014, une globale sur l’ensemble de la filière des hydrocarbures et une spécifique à l’île d’Anticosti. \nSix bassins sédimentaires ont été considérés, soit les Basses-Terres du Saint-Laurent, les sédiments consolidés quaternaires présents dans la même région, la Gaspésie, l’île d’Anticosti, le Bas-Saint-Laurent et le Golfe du Saint-Laurent. Les bassins du Nord du Québec n’ont pas été considérés bien que leur potentiel mérite d’être évalué dans le futur. De la même façon la partie du fleuve Saint-Laurent située en amont de l’île d’Anticosti et ainsi que les îles se trouvant dans cette partie du fleuve n’ont pas été considérés car ces secteurs sont présentement soustraits à l’exploration pour les hydrocarbures.
