Abstract
Dans cet article, l’auteur met en lumière les innovations poétiques opérées par les quatre textes publiés dans la collection « Les Romans de la jeune génération » (1931-1932). Plus spécifiquement, il montre comment « la vie », vue comme idéal philosophique structurant de l’espace social canadien-français de la décennie 1930, s’infuse dans les formes et les discours romanesques des quatre titres qui composent l’éphémère collection créée par l’éditeur Albert Lévesque : Dans les ombres , d’Éva Senécal ; La chair décevante , de Jovette-Alice Bernier ; Dilettante , de Claude Robillard ; et L’initiatrice , de Rex Desmarchais. Après une présentation des auteurs et du contexte sociolittéraire entourant la création de la collection, Rannaud aborde les textes en isolant trois variables : le genre romanesque, la représentation de la parole écrite ou lue, et les thèmes et discours dominants de la série.
