Estem vivint, en paraules de Todorov, un enfrontament entre el neoliberalisme i la democràcia. Davant d’aquest conflicte profund que està soscavant els pilars de la legitimitat de la democràcia representativa, l’article té per objectiu presentar, de manera exploratòria, unes primeres notes sobre què podrien ser les escoles democràtiques en comú. Per a fer-ho, s’entronca amb la corrent de pensament que, des de Dewey ha remarcat la necessitat que les escoles eduquin en, per i sobre la democràcia. Avui, la necessitat d’escoles democràtiques és més viva que mai i el principal resultat d’aquest article, és la proposta de construir-les a partir de pràctiques comunitzants. Van ser Bollier (2014) i Laval i Dardot (2015) els que van proposar transformar “comú” d’adjectiu (bé comú) a verb: comunitzar (commoning). L’article, a partir del model analític de Foucault (saber, poder, subjectivitat), explora què podria ser una escola democràtica basada en pràctiques comunitzants en relació a què (no) és una escola (veritat); com hauria de ser governada (governance); i quin tipus d’identitat hauria de produir (subjecte). Amb aquesta proposta d’escola democràtica en comú es busca plantejar nous camins per construir espais d’educació que transformin el saber, les relacions de poder i les identitats en la línia del bé comú.
