Abstract
Cet article analyse l’évolution entre 1960 et 1995 de la Saint-Jean-Baptiste et de la Fête du Canada comme fêtes nationales dans Le Carillon dans les comtés-unis de Prescott-Russell où les Franco-Ontariens sont majoritaires. Si la Saint-Jean, fête nationale des Canadiens français, est toujours présente, une certaine anxiété l’entoure en raison de son identification comme fête nationale du Québec sous les péquistes en 1976. Nous découvrons également que la crise politique sur l’unité nationale qui entoure ces décennies, incite le journal franco-ontarien à participer activement, avec le gouvernement fédéral, à la production d’un nouveau récit identitaire canadien articulé autour du 1er juillet.
