Fondamentalement, les Centres de santé de quartier contestent la structure des rapports sociaux que fonde la pratique médicale traditionnelle : pouvoir légitime des soignants de proposer aux soignés des grilles de lecture médicales des difficultés de leur vie quotidienne, contrôle interne des soignants par le biais des rapports hiérarchiques, absence de solidarité entre soignés. L’auteur fournit une description des Centres de santé de quartier, de leur financement, de leur fonctionnement et pose les jalons pour une évaluation de ces expériences.
