Abstract
Favorisées par l’émergence des médias sociaux et le manque de crédibilité de l’information officielle, les fausses informations et les rumeurs prolifèrent en Chine. Cet article explique comment ces phénomènes surviennent dans un pays dirigé par un pouvoir qui censure l’information, il en présente les messagers et expose les raisons pour lesquelles le public vit comme potentiellement vraies les fausses informations et les rumeurs. Enfin, il analyse la réponse répressive des autorités au défi auquel est confronté la communication officielle et dont l’enjeu central réside dans la crédibilité de l’information accessible aux Chinois.
