Abstract
A comunicação desempenha um papel preponderante no relacionamento entre os parceiros comerciais, particularmente no contexto globalizado do mundo em que vivemos. Embora seja hoje mais fácil o estabelecimento de parcerias entre empresas sediadas em países muito distantes, graças aos enormes avanços a que temos vindo a assistir nas últimas três décadas em termos das tecnologias da informação e da comunicação,a realidade é que a língua ainda constitui uma barreira ao comércio internacional, impondo muitas vezes custos acrescidos às trocas comerciais. No entanto, se o facto de os parceiros comerciais falarem uma língua diferente afeta negativamente a relação, o contrário, isto é,dominarem a mesma língua constitui uma vantagem que deve ser aproveitada.
