Abstract

Cette étude exploratoire menée auprès de douze enseignants du primaire (1 re à 6 e année) vise à vérifier leurs connaissances théoriques, leurs pratiques de même que les sources qui ont contribué à leurs savoirs actuels concernant l’anxiété des élèves. Des entrevues ont permis de relever les connaissances et les interventions déclarées par le personnel enseignant et d’explorer les fondements les soutenant. Les résultats révèlent que les connaissances des enseignants quant aux manifestations de l’anxiété, ses causes et les interventions à pratiquer sont limitées. Les principales sources de leurs connaissances sont issues de leurs expériences personnelles et professionnelles et très peu de leurs formations initiale ou continue. De nouvelles pistes d’intervention et de recherche sont proposées pour améliorer les formations initiale et continue des enseignants et contribuer au développement de leur compétence pour venir en aide aux élèves qui vivent de l’anxiété à l’école primaire.
