À travers un dispositif textuel à caractère déontique, cette communication interroge l’agentivité de codes professionnels, chartes et autres manifestes dans leur contribution performative à la professionnalisation des communicateurs. L’appareillage déontique qui sert une professionnalisation aux prises avec la multiplicité de métiers relevant de secteurs, champs et fonctions multiples, sert également la reconnaissance des associations, syndicats et autres représentants qui revendiquent leur légitimité de porte-parole. Par-delà un corpus documentaire restreint, cette communication interroge la manière dont des regroupements professionnels contribuent à une régulation interne et externe de leurs métiers et fonctions de référence. Ce faisant, l’analyse ouvre sur la lecture dynamique d’une structuration « par défaut » (législatif et réglementaire) où la segmentation n’opère pas seulement sur le mode de la différenciation de territoires à géométrie variable et la revendication de leur souveraineté, mais aussi par un travail d’accompagnement et d’encadrement des professionnels en exercice. Cette contribution constitue donc une invitation à poursuivre, dans l’espace francophone, l’analyse dynamique d’une professionnalisation disputée par de multiples instances représentatives, sur différents modes rhétoriques (juridique, déontologique, militant, casuistique…) et services (édition, événements, formation, conseil…) aux professionnels.
