Dans un contexte de forte évolution anthropique des paysages de la Martinique, cet article a pour objectif d’identifier les variables pertinentes pour décrire leur organisation. Ce travail relève de l’écologie du paysage en tant que science multidisciplinaire qui propose une très bonne approche méthodologique combinant les composantes structurales et fonctionnelles du paysage dans la perspective de mettre en évidence les causes et les conséquences des processus écologiques. La méthode utilisée pour cette étude de l’évolution du canevas paysager de la Martinique se base sur la comparaison des cartes IGN de 1954, 1996 et de 2016. Deux zones d’études ont été choisies pour analyser la transformation des paysages sous l’action de l’homme. Les premiers résultats montrent que ces paysages martiniquais ont subi des changements importants liés principalement aux perturbations d’ordre anthropique (notamment la pression démographique) de l’époque précoloniale à aujourd’hui.
