Abstract

La direction d’école joue un rôle majeur dans la réussite scolaire des élèves. Il s’avère donc essentiel de connaître, chez les nouvelles directions, les compétences développées et celles à développer pour mieux gérer leur école. Une recherche qualitative utilisant des entrevues semi-dirigées a été réalisée auprès de 101 acteurs de l’éducation au Canada. Nos résultats montrent qu’un grand nombre de nouvelles directions de presque toutes les provinces considèrent qu’elles ont plus d’habiletés développées qu’à développer pour les sept catégories de la composantehabiletésde la compétence pour mieux gérer leur école. Par ailleurs, plusieurs autres acteurs de l’éducation mentionnent que les nouvelles directions d’école doivent consolider leurs habiletés dans la gestion administrative et dans celle des relations humaines.
