Resumen: Las investigaciones arqueolgicas desarrolladas en las ltimas tres dcadas en las Islas Shetland del Sur contribuyeron a conocer la significacin histrica, la diversidad, localizacin y caractersticas especficas de los sitios loberos-balleneros del siglo XIX. Su conservacin es un tema que se ha venido tratando en diversos contextos vinculados al patrimonio polar. Se propone que el turismo desarrollado en las Islas Shetland del Sur puede ser interpretado como oportunidad para visibilizar no slo los restos arqueolgicos, sino tambin
