Abstract
espanolEn el entorno de Los Santos de Maimona (Comarca de Zafra-Rio Bodion, Extremadura), y gracias a condicionantes fisicos, se aunaron multiples aspiraciones humanas (trashumantes, comerciales, militares, religiosas…); dando lugar a uno de los mas importantes cruces de caminos del Oeste hispano. Su particularidad orografica, con pasos montanosos, condiciono el diseno de grandes rutas; paisaje que fue testigo de trascendentales hechos. Destacar el paso por aqui de: la romana de la Plata, que perduro en la Edad Media y en el Renacimiento; la ganadera Real Occidental…; caminos que influyeron en la Historia hispana. Es por ello que este Patrimonio Caminero debemos defenderlo y rentabilizarlo, pues es: legado de nuestros ancestros y recurso socioeconomico para el futuro. EnglishIn the surroundings of Los Santos de Maimona (Zafra-Rio Bodion region, Extremadura) and thanks to special geographical conditions,many human wishes got together (trashumant,commercial,military and religious ones) giving birth to one of the most important crossroads in the West of Spain. Its particular topography,with mountain crossings,affected the design of crucial routes.This landscape was also witness to significant events.It should be also highlighted that the Roman Via de la Plata goes through this place and remained through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.This road,together with the Western stock Canada Real Leonesa influenced the Spanish History. This is why we must support this road heritage and make it profitable given that it is our ancestors´ legacy and a socioeconomic resource for the future.
