Abstract
The prices of 70 of the most commonly prescribed generic drugs in Canada will fall by 25-40% on 1 April in a deal between Canada’s provinces and territories, working together, and the Canadian Generic Pharmaceutical Association. The provinces extracted the concession by threatening to resort to tendering when ordering generics for their drug formularies, which would have forced makers to compete on price.
