Le rapport final de la Commission de vérité et réconciliation (CVR) du Canada, et son Appels à l’action, ont porter à l’attention des théologiennes et théologiens la responsabilité éthique et théologique des églises et la théologie aux peuples autochtones, non seulement au Canada, mais aussi dans l’ensemble du continent et au-delà. Selon la CVR, la réconciliation exige la prise de responsabilité pour le passé et pour un nouveau départ basé sur le respect mutuel et une nouvelle relation décolonisée. Inspiré par le cadre analytique des penseurs décoloniaux, cet article soulève quelques questions à la théologie et aux églises et plaide en faveur de re-imaginer la relation avec les peuples autochtones. Une théologie en dialogue avec les mouvements de la résurgence des peuples autochtones et leur littérature, l’article soutient, pourrait ouvrir de nouvelles possibilités pour l’émergence d’une théologie décolonial qui contribuerait à la transformation des églises et leurs relations avec les Autochtones.
