Au cours du XX e siècle, les géographes français ont fait leurs des démarches et explicitations réflexives qui corrélativement ont vu sensiblement évoluer leurs places et leurs statuts dans la production disciplinaire. Cessant d’en être un angle mort, ces démarches ont été dotées d’un outillage conceptuel et méthodologique, leur assurant aujourd’hui visibilité et reconnaissance dans le champ des études géographiques. Passant d’un projet d’histoire de la discipline à un projet plus explicitement épistémologique, les modalités de l’écriture réflexive géographique participent aujourd’hui d’une nouvelle forme d’habitus disciplinaire mobilisant de nouveaux objets, questionnements et méthodes.
