Parce qu’il s’écoule désormais sept ans entre l’âge médian de fin d’études et celui de la stabilisation dans l’emploi, l’analyse de ces sas de transition prolongés au début de la vie active est essentielle pour appréhender la question de l’accès à l’autonomie des jeunes aujourd’hui. À partir de l’exemple de l’intérim comme forme emblématique d’« emploi de jeune », cet article analyse la signification de la condition intérimaire en termes de socialisation salariale, de modalités d’intégration professionnelle ou de place au travail. Il questionne la façon dont ces formes de participation en pointillé au marché du travail (forte discontinuité de l’activité professionnelle effective) peuvent contrarier des désirs d’accès à l’indépendance des jeunes.
