Abstract

It is shown that the ill-posedness of the inverse scattering problem can be eliminated through spatial decoupling of the radiated fields produced by distinct regions of the imaging domain. Such spatial decoupling can be achieved by inhomogeneous media that forms separated beams of the radiated field produced by the distinct pixels of contrast sources as they are interrogated by an extraneous field. Example of the Green's functions exhibiting desired properties, namely, the Green's function of a Maxwell fish-eye lens, are used to demonstrate the effect.
