Abstract
Le terme francisé d’« égoportrait » rattache la « nouvelle » pratique photographique du selfie au genre de l’autoportrait en peinture. Cet article soutiendra qu’une comparaison à la pratique littéraire de l’autobiographie est bien plus porteuse de sens. En effet, telle que pratiquée par Jean-Jacques Rousseau, l’autobiographie est une mise-en-récit de soi et la réflexivité du discours montre le processus de cette narration. Contrairement à l’autoportrait figé, qui bien souvent ne représente pas le peintre à l’acte, le selfie montre nécessairement le geste de captation photographique. L’idée audacieuse d’une invention littéraire du selfie par le père fondateur de l’autobiographie moderne permettra de placer cette pratique photographique au sein d’une archéologie de l’autoreprésentation, et de voir plus précisément comment image et texte peuvent faire un même travail de connexion entre le soi, le vécu et sa représentation.
