Une modélisation numérique permettant d’étudier ie comportement dynamique linéaire d’un ressort hélicoïdal sous chargement est présentée. La formulation mathématique est constituée d’un système linéaire de deux équations aux dérivées partielles de type hyperbolique qui sont les équations de quantité de mouvement du ressort. Dans ces conditions, la résolution numérique est effectuée par la méthode des caractéristiques et la méthode des différences finies conservatives de Lax-Wendroff. Les résultats obtenus, à l’aide de ces deux méthodes, ont permis d’analyser la propagation des ondes de déformations axiales et angulaires en différentes sections du ressort, dues à un chargement axial. Le chargement est représenté par la vitesse axiale temporelle de l’extrémité du ressort soumise au chargement. Pour valider la fiabilité du modèle présenté, les résultats issus de ces deux méthodes ont été confrontés à la solution analytique du problème étudié.
