Abstract

Cet article tente de voir dans la pratique religieuse, et spécifiquement celle de l’islam, les indices d’une réponse individuelle à l’injustice sociale. La démarche de mise en contexte part de la thèse de Nancy Fraser qui consiste à reconsidérer la justice sociale à travers ses dimensions de reconnaissance et de redistribution. La perspective de l’auteure féministe se rapproche de la praxis coranique de la zakat . Aussi, l’initiative se poursuit en exposant ce commandement divin au fondement de la foi. Trois propriétés y sont rattachées : 1) la zakat constitue un vecteur de redistribution des biens possédés ; 2) elle formule une créance du démuni sur les biens du nanti ; 3) elle construit une éthique de comportement individuel élevée sur la solidarité et la justice. Finalement, l’entreprise figure une proposition possible dans le contexte québécois.
