GENERAL SOLUTION OF THE FORCED IN-PLANE VIBRATION PROBLEM FOR A SPINNING DISK

Abstract
The general in-plane problem for a spinning disk is considered. Orthogonality properties of the free-motion mode shapes are derived by recasting the problem in state-space. These orthogonality properties permit a practical and insightful formulation to the general solution of the forced in-plane vibration problem. The general free, vibration response, under general initial conditions is derived. In addition, the forced vibration response with constant, and harmonic forcing functions is considered to illustrate the solution method.
