Chez les nouveau-nés, l’incidence de sevrage aux opioïdes a augmenté rapidement dans bien des pays depuis dix ans, y compris au Canada. Ce phénomène est très inquiétant pour la santé et le développement précoce du cerveau. La plus grande exposition prénatale aux opioïdes reflète l’utilisation croissante d’opioïdes sur ordonnance, la consommation d’opioïdes illégaux et le recours aux thérapies de substitution aux opioïdes. Les nouveau-nés sont à haut risque de présenter des symptômes d’abstinence ou de sevrage susceptibles d’exiger une évaluation et un traitement. Le présent point de pratique traite expressément des effets du sevrage aux opioïdes et des stratégies de prise en charge des nouveau-nés d’une mère dépendante aux opioïdes.
