Abstract
Heritage fus l’une des dernières productions du Canadian Gorvernment Motion Picture Bureau, complétée alors que John Grierson préparait son rapport sur les activités cinématographiques du gouvernement canadien. La distribution de Heritage fus l’une des premières tâches de Grierson en tant que commissaire, ce qui exigea de lui qu’il suscite l’intérêt du secteur privé pour le cinéma financé par le secteur public et qu’il s’assure le concours d’organisations bénévoles comme le Canadian Film Committee. Le film ne servit pas seulement les intérêts nationalistes de Grierson, mais lui permit aussi de comprendre les relations interdépartementales qui allaient donner forme aux principes politiques à partir desquels l’Office nationale du film du Canada sera fondé.
