Le Mexique a lié son destin à ceux de ses voisins nord-américains par la signature de l’Accord de libre-échange nord-américain (Aléna). Cependant, avec la forte croissance économique qu’enregistre la région pacifique de l’Asie, le Mexique se cherche un nouvel élan. C’est par son insertion dans les dynamiques commerciales actuelles, notamment par la promotion et la participation à des négociations comme celles de l’Alliance du Pacifique (ptp) entre pays latino-américains, mais plus particulièrement par sa participation à la construction du Partenariat transpacifique (ptp), signé le 4 février 2016, que le Mexique cherche à préserver sa position comme plateforme incontournable du commerce et des investissements internationaux associés aux chaînes de valeur des États-Unis. Cet article propose une analyse des motifs qui ont poussé le Mexique à intégrer le ptp ainsi que des opportunités et des défis qui en découlent.
