Abstract
Une autorité éducative éthique impose une éthique de l’autorité. Dans la démocratie des droits de l’Homme, l’autorité ne peut qu’être métamorphosée par rapport à ses anciennes formes et doit se construire au quotidien, en particulier par les professionnels de l’éducation. La philosophie de l’éducation doit pouvoir décrire les conditions auxquelles l’accompagnement du devenir autonome peut se faire en respectant le sujet éduqué et en se souciant de son bien-être présent et futur. L’autorité éducative bienveillante est une responsabilité. La pertinence d’une acception large des notions d’autorité et de bienveillance sera défendue (partie 1). La question de leur possible inscription dans le système de légitimité des démocraties occidentales actuelles sera posée (partie 2), ainsi que celle des conditions de leur reconnaissance et du consentement des individus à la forme d’accompagnement que l’autorité éducative bienveillante propose (partie 3). Une telle autorité pourrait alors être un moyen privilégié pour faire émerger chez l’autre la capacité à agir seul dans un monde de culture.
