Le monde de l’édition scolaire au Québec s’est enrichi ces dernières années de dictionnaires dits « scolaires », que certains appellent aussi « dictionnaires pédagogiques ». Comme le souligne Boulanger (2005), les dictionnaires scolaires ne datent pas d’hier : leurs ancêtres auraient vu le jour en Mésopotamie au IIIe ou au IVe millénaire avant notre ère, et les dictionnaires scolaires modernes de langue française seraient apparus au milieu du XIXe siècle en France.
