En s’inspirant de l’analyse des articles de la revue qui ont traité de la question de l’intervention en criminologie et du contexte de la création récente d’un ordre professionnel des criminologues au Québec, cet article propose une réflexion approfondie autour de l’apport de la criminologie critique à une intervention qui soit à la fois humaniste et réflexive. L’objectif de cet article est triple. Dans un premier temps, présenter les résultats d’une analyse des articles de la revue Criminologie qui ont abordé la question de l’intervention au cours des cinquante dernières années. Dans un deuxième temps, proposer une définition de la criminologie critique et montrer comment cette approche peut contribuer de façon significative à l’élaboration de pratiques d’intervention qui puissent représenter une avenue féconde pour aider les personnes prises en charge par les institutions pénales. Et troisièmement, exposer de quelle façon l’ordre professionnel pourrait défendre cette idée d’une intervention criminologique dont la portée serait résolument critique.
