Abstract
Un problème majeur que rencontre la Campagne pour le désarmement nucléaire (CDN), tant au niveau local que national, est de savoir comment obtenir l’appui nécessaire de la population et d’avoir une influence significative auprès de celle-ci. L’émergence du Camp de la paix des femmes de Greenham a bien sûr attiré l’attention de la population. Toutefois, de nouvelles méthodes deviennent grandement nécessaires. Des groupes locaux ont offert leur appui moral et financier aux femmes de Greenham mais autrement ils éprouvent des difficultés à savoir où faire porter leurs efforts. Ils n’ont pas envie d’être trop proches d’un parti politique en particulier et conséquemment, ils cherchent à se gagner la sympathie de leurs localités respectives par des manifestations locales et par la distribution de tracts. Mais s’agit-il là d’une méthode appropriée pour changer la politique de défense du gouvernement ?
