Abstract
PbZrO 3 ‐PbTiO 3 ‐Bi(Zn 2/3 Nb 1/3 )O 3 ternary solid solution system with various compositions is synthesized in the form of ceramics by solid‐state reaction method. Their crystal structure and electric properties are investigated by X‐ray diffraction, dielectric spectroscopy, ferroelectric and piezoelectric measurements. Studies are mainly focused on two series of compounds 0.95[(1− x )PbZrO 3 ‐ x PbTiO 3 ]‐0.05Bi(Zn 2/3 Nb 1/3 )O 3 and 0.90[(1− x )PbZrO 3 ‐ x PbTiO 3 ]‐0.10Bi(Zn 2/3 Nb 1/3 )O 3 , which have their compositions across the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB). It is found that the addition of Bi(Zn 2/3 Nb 1/3 )O 3 broadens the MPB region of the well‐known lead zirconate titanate (PZT) binary system and leads to a gradually curved MPB line in the pseudobinary phase diagram and a gradually decreased Curie temperature in these two systems. Enhanced remnant polarization, coercive field, and electromechanical properties are found in the ternary solid solution system compared with pure PZT ceramics.
