El objeto de este estudio es el tratamiento carcelario que se les dio a las presas en dos cárceles nacionales mexicanas en las que se intentó la reforma penitenciaria, la cárcel de la ex Acordada y la de Belén. Se analizan algunas de las características de las presas, la manera en que se les incluyó en los reglamentos carcelarios y las modificaciones que se hicieron en el departamento de mujeres de estas cárceles después de renovación penitenciaria, especialmente en el trabajo y la educación de las reas.
