Abstract
Le projet de réhabilitation par la municipalité de l’ensemble dit de la Tour Chauvet a été l’occasion de découvrir un nouvel exemple de tour aristocratique urbaine du xiie s., à l’origine d’un hôtel particulier de la fin du Moyen Âge rebâti entre la fin du xvie s. et le début du xviie s. La tour est la partie la plus ancienne de l’îlot. Elle est aujourd’hui conservée sur 16,50 m d’élévation, mais on peut restituer une hauteur totale de 21 m (crénelage compris).
