In this study, motion simulation analysis was used to investigate the performance of a Strut-SLA front suspension system. The geometric kinematics was studied under steering motion and the compliance of flexible elements on suspension performance parameters, under aligning torque, was also investigated. The Taguchi method was used to evaluate combinations of different levels of flexibility in each part of the suspension and to analyze performance parameters and suspension loading conditions associated with different flexible elements. This reduced the number of analyses and time required to a minimum. By using the larger-the-better characteristic to calculate and analyze the results, the combination of the control factor and levels having substantial effect on the performance parameter could be found, this facilitated study of the impact of the flexible elements on all types of parameters.
