Abstract
La nature et l’importance des relations qui existent entre les communautés francophones canadiennes et le Québec suscitent fréquemment des controverses et des questionnements identitaires. Par exemple, comment les jeunes francophones et francophiles voient-ils les autres francophonies et comment perçoivent-ils leur propre francophonie à l’intérieur du Canada? Existe-t-il une conscience d’une francophonie de l’Ouest ou les identités francophones provinciales se sont-elles imposées dans la façon de se représenter? Dans ce texte, nous présenterons les résultats d’une recherche de terrain menée en 2014-2015 qui examine la manière dont les étudiants du Campus Saint-Jean perçoivent la francophonie albertaine dans son rapport avec les autres francophonies de l’Ouest. Il s’agit d’une étude qui, en explorant les perceptions des jeunes francophones et francophiles qui fréquentent cette institution post-secondaire francophone, permet de saisir s’ils se perçoivent comme faisant partie d’un espace francophone albertain ou alors d’une pluralité d’espaces francophones canadiens. Nous verrons alors qu’il existe des perceptions opposées en ce qui concerne la vitalité ainsi que la place de la francophonie albertaine à l’intérieur de la francophonie de l’Ouest.
