Abstract
Contexte : L'objectif de cette étude est de décrire les connaissances et les attitudes à l'égard du VIHsida, à l'aide d'un échantillon de 658 étudiants dans une université d'une région nordique du Québec, au Canada.Méthode : Étude transversale où les connaissances des étudiants sur le VIH-sida ont été mesurées grâce à une adaptation canadienne-française du Brief HIV Knowledge Questionnaire.Résultats : De façon générale, le niveau de connaissance des étudiants participants était élevé.Toutefois, certaines lacunes ont quand même été identifiées.Le fait d'être né dans un autre pays que le Canada (OR : 3,8 ; IC 95 % : 1,4-10,1), d'étudier au 1 er cycle (plutôt qu'aux 2 e -3 e cycles ; OR : 2,5 ; IC 95 % : 1,2-5,1) et de n'avoir jamais connu une personne vivant avec le VIH-sida (OR : 2,1 ; IC 95 % : 1,2-3,8) était associé à un faible niveau de connaissance à l'égard de cette maladie.Conclusion : Nos résultats soulignent l'importance de mettre en place différentes stratégies de sensibilisation et d'éducation auprès de certains sous-groupes d'étudiants universitaires.
