Se trabajaron tres proyectos con el apoyo de Cementos Progreso y la Coordinadorea Nacional para la Reducción de Desastres (Conred): (1) Mejoramiento del sistema de monitoreo del nivel de ríos que utiliza Conred. Se desarrolló un sistema electrónico encargado de registrar el cambio de nivel del río y enviar automáticamente un mensaje de texto preventivo, mediante un módulo GSM, cuando el río alcance un nivel de peligro. (2). Medición de temperatura del concreto para determinar su grado de madurez, se utilizaron termocúplas tipo K modelo DS18B20 introducidas dentro del bloque de concreto a analizar, registrando el cambio de temperatura. Se utilizó un ordenador de placa, Raspberry-Pi, para almacenar los datos del cambio de temperatura, para luego enviar un informe diario por correo electrónico. Se determinó el índice de madurez del concreto analizado y se construyó una gráfica de temperatura-resistencia, para predecir la resistencia final aproximada que alcanza a los 28 días. (3). Análisis de deformaciones internas y deflexiones en losas convencionales de pavimentación. Para analizar las deformaciones internas que dichas losas experimentan con el paso del tránsito vehicular, se utilizaron galgas extensiométricas tipo PML-60-2LT. La deflexión de las losas se midió con un reloj comparador y una cámara web, para tomar una fotografía al momento de que pase un vehículo sobre la losa. Las galgas extensiométricas se conectaron a un Raspberry Pi para procesar y almacenar los datos, y enviar un informe diario por correo electrónico.
