Abstract
Jusqu’en 1996, on s’est interrogé sur le rôle joué par le Bas-Saguenay au temps de la paléohistoire. Alors que de nombreux sites archéologiques étaient connus dans les secteurs de Tadoussac et du Lac-Saint-Jean, la portion de la rivière Saguenay, entre les deux, demeurait une énigme. Depuis 1996, les choses ont bien changé, au point qu’aujourd’hui on sait que ce territoire a été abondamment fréquenté pendant environ 8000 ans. En effet, des sites découverts en deux points précis du fjord ont livré des milliers de vestiges archéologiques de différentes natures permettant de mieux comprendre le quotidien de ceux qui fréquentèrent les lieux lors de la paléohistoire.
