Abstract
Cet article aborde l’influence de la Première Guerre mondiale sur la vie philosophique de Bertrand Russell, qui s’insurgea implacablement contre la violence et repensa les conditions nécessaires à une paix durable. La philosophie politique qui en découle, consignée dans les Principes de reconstruction sociale ( PRS ), est de plusieurs façons une « pensée de l’action » ; elle prend pour objet le domaine de l’activité humaine, mais répond également au besoin criant d’une pensée utile pour agir en temps de crise. Cette pensée est aussi le mode d’action propre du philosophe, donc son plus grand pouvoir sur l’ordre des choses dans le monde.
