Abstract
Certaines données soulignées dans des rapports parus en 2013 sur le niveau de littératie des Canadiens sont alarmantes, particulièrement chez les Québécois. Les statistiques récentes indiquent que 14,2 % de la population adulte âgée entre 16 et 25 ans n’atteint pas un niveau de littératie souhaité pour fonctionner au quotidien (Statistique Canada, 2013). Pour s’assurer que les adultes de demain atteignent en plus grand nombre le niveau de littératie souhaitée, il importe d’agir tôt dans la scolarité. Sachant que la complexité des communications d’aujourd’hui exige des habiletés de littératie de plus en plus élevées (Conseil canadien pour l’apprentissage [CCA], janvier, 2008), ce constat est préoccupant. La maîtrise des compétences informationnelles liées à la lecture et à la compréhension des textes multiples (textes numériques ou imprimés combinant au moins deux modes sémiotiques) réfère au concept de littératie médiatique multimodale (LMM). Ce concept comporte une visée motivationnelle (Lebrun, Lacelle et Boutin, 2013) qui gagne à être approfondie puisqu’elle est très peu développée actuellement. Conséquemment, cette recherche s’intéresse aux pratiques pédagogiques de LMM en français langue d’enseignement qui sont jugées motivantes par des élèves du 3 e cycle du primaire de milieu défavorisé.
