Alors que de plus en plus de publications universitaires sont consacrées au rôle du Parlement européen et des parlements nationaux dans les politiques sécuritaires européennes, les conséquences des relations interparlementaires sur la légitimité démocratique de la Politique européenne de sécurité commune et la Politique de sécurité et de défense commune (PESC/PSDC) commencent à peine à attirer l’attention des chercheurs. Cette analyse se fonde sur la différentiation entre input , throughput et output legitimacy et sur les principes d’autonomie et d’ accountability – en tant que prérequis de toute légitimité – afin de déterminer si la conférence PESC/PSDC contribue à rendre ces politiques plus légitimes. La conférence est ensuite analysée dans le détail pour évaluer si elle participe effectivement à la quête de légitimité en matière de PESC et PSDC.
