Abstract
A estereotomia da abóbada que constitui o pórtico inferior do pátio do palácio de Carlos V em Granada forma um sistema estrutural auto-estável, porém durante a fase de construção o conjunto seria instável sem o uso de meios auxiliares. As técnicas de pesquisa histórica baseadas em inspeções visuais e a consulta de fontes documentais conjugadas com a lógica estrutural, bem como a otimização de recursos e meios auxiliares permitem chegar a hipóteses sobre o processo construtivo da abóbada. Essas hipóteses podem ser analisadas de forma detalhada e precisa usando modelos numéricos que simulam o comportamento estrutural nos primeiros estágios de construção. Neste artigo, são apresentados modelos de elementos finitos, considerando-se uma análise estática e o comportamento elástico do material, que serve de base para pesquisas históricas para validar as hipóteses levantadas sobre o processo de construção da abóbada toroidal.
